Phase III - Broad Public Engagement

(Final design and dates to be informed and co-designed by Phase I and Phase II) 

July for Round-Table events open to the public.

Fireside chat with Mayor Johnson open to the public after budget release in the fall. 

 

Purpose: 
  • Provide education on the City of Chicago budget, budgeting process, and community engagement process for the budget. 
  • Provide education and information on prioritized programs and services across budget topic area.  
  • Share the process and results of Phase 1 and Phase 2.  
  • Provide space for deeper and more meaningful conversations prioritized programs and services across budget topic areas. 
  • Provide space for residents to share ideas, comments, and feedback about the City of Chicago’s budget. 
  • Provide the opportunity for resident feedback to inform budget decisions before the Mayor’s budget is released. 
 
Engagement Activities:  
  • Conduct 4 roundtable events (3 open to the public and 1 focused youth) with topical discussions.  
  • Data Collection Tool  
  • Open public comment available on 2025 Budget Portal 
  • Conduct a Fireside Chat with Mayor Johnson (after Mayor Johnson’s budget is released)
