Draft Policy for Public Comment

May 16, 2024

As announced at the Police Board's May 16 public meeting, the Board is posting for public comment a draft policy regarding Deputy Public Safety Inspector General reviews and audits.

Paragraph numbers 560 and 564 of the Consent Decree on policing in Chicago require the Police Board to provide the Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety access to information and to not interfere with the exercise of the Deputy’s discretionary or oversight responsibilities. While provisions of the Municipal Code of Chicago address the requirements of these two paragraphs, the Board has drafted a policy to address them as well.

If you would like to comment on the draft policy, please address your comments to the Police Board and send them to PoliceBoard@cityofchicago.org. Public comments are due by Monday, June 17, 2024.
