26th/Kostner TIF

Designation: 1998    Repealed: 2008

Located within the South Lawndale community, the city's largest Mexican-American neighborhood, the 26th/Kostner TIF was designated to provide a mechanism that allows for coordinated planning and financing of mixed-use private investments involving retail development and single and multi-family housing. Characterized by large parcels of vacant land, the 48-acre district was also intended to improve and expand institutional uses and public facilities that cater to community needs. The district was repealed in 2008 due to lack of activity.
