Roosevelt/Homan TIF

Designation: 1990    Expiration: 2014

The Roosevelt/Homan TIF includes a 54-acre section of the North Lawndale community that in the latter half of the 1900s lost a substantial number of commercial, residential and industrial structures due to urban disinvestment trends. The TIF is intended to foster the area's redevelopment with commercial and mixed-income residential uses, predominately on vacant land but also involving existing structures that are suitable for rehabilitation. The primary goal of the TIF is the development of a retail complex on the northwest corner of Kedzie Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Funds from the district are intended to assist with redevelopment costs associated with infrastructure, land acquisition, site improvements, and certain interest costs.
