Mayor-elect Emanuel Announces Steve Patton as Corporation Counsel

Today Mayor-elect Emanuel announced that Steve Patton will serve the incoming administration as Corporation Counsel. “Steve Patton is a consummate professional and is widely recognized for his sharp legal mind," said Mayor-elect Emanuel. "I am pleased that Steve has agreed to lend his services to the city as Corporation Counsel."

Steve Patton, currently a senior litigation partner with the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis, has displayed a commitment to serving the people of Chicago throughout his career. Patton is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and serves on the College’s Selection Committee for Northern Illinois University. Patton has been active throughout his career in a number of civic causes and legal aid organizations, including serving as President of the Chicago Bar Foundation and Chairman of the Board of Advisors to the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. He was also a recipient of the Illinois State Bar Association’s 2000 Pro Bono Service Award. Patton received his BA from Indiana University and earned his JD from Georgetown University in 1978.
