“Congratulations to Chicago's own Ixhelt Gonzalez for earning a spot on the U.S. Women's Wheelchair Basketball team. At only the age of 13, Ixhelt has spent countless hours practicing at Mann Park in Hegewisch, and has already proven herself to be a champion as a part of the Chicago Park District’s Adaptive Sports Basketball Team, the Chicago Skyhawks. Her story, spirit and strength are an inspiration to our city. I join all Chicagoans in congratulating Ixhelt on this well-deserved accomplishment."
