Mayor's Press Office    312.744.3334

Mayor Emanuel today announced the City of Chicago and AFSCME Council 31 reached a tentative agreement for a new contract. The agreement was ratified last night by AFSCME’s membership, and will be introduced for approval by the City Council.

“This new contract is a strong and sustainable commitment that respects both Chicago’s taxpayers and Chicago's dedicated city workers. This is another labor agreement that helps us better control the city’s health care costs and ensure the city’s fiscal stability for years to come,” Mayor Emanuel said. “It stands as a testament of what’s possible when both sides roll up their sleeves and work together to find solutions that serve our common interests and help us reach our common goal of moving Chicago forward.”
