Resources for Re-Entry
The following resources are available to returning residents and their families to find help with a variety of needs, from housing to healthcare and legal services to workforce training. If you aren’t sure where to start, call 2-1-1.
Community Re-Entry Support Centers
The Department of Family and Support Services’ Community Re-Entry Support Centers (CRSC) provide a central location where any Chicago resident with a prior conviction history can receive the support services needed to transition back into their communities and the workforce. The services available provide participants with various support services, from workforce training to legal services, among other services, to move forward and succeed in life. There are four CRSCs:
- Howard Area Community Center: 7648 N. Paulina St./11200 S. State St.
- Community Assistance Programs: 11717 S. Halsted St.
- Centers for New Horizons: 945 W. 69th St.
- Teamwork Englewood: 815 W. 63rd St., 2nd Floor
- Safer Foundation Welcome Center: 808 S. Kedzie Ave.
211 Chicago
211 is a free, easy-to-access helpline that serves as an information and referral resource, helping connect people to food, housing, utility payment assistance, health care, transportation, childcare, employment, mental health, disaster information and assistance, and more. Dial 2-1-1
Mental Health Services
Mental health services are available in your community. Community-based partners of the Chicago Department of Public Health provide mental health assessments, crisis intervention, individual counseling, group therapy, or medications.
