Clinical Expansion

Treatment Not Trauma is focused on expanding mental health clinical services, including reopening and repurposing the network of public mental health centers that the Chicago Department of Public Health operate. The centers will function both as crisis stabilization centers as well as community hubs for preventive outreach and supportive services. Treatment Not Trauma aims to increase access to, and community awareness of, clinical services. Efforts will be made to reduce barriers to access, building towards a city-wide impact, outlining budgetary requirements, capital and facility needs, staffing considerations, and metrics for success, all while incorporating community input and adhering to regulatory parameters.

The Treatment Not Trauma Working Group Ordinance has established the Clinical Expansion working group to develop a framework and roadmap for expanding the city's clinic services. This group includes representatives from the Chicago Department of Public Health, Assets, Information and Services, Human Resources, the Mayor's Office of Education and Human Services, and the Office of Budget and Management. Their focus is on reducing barriers to access, achieving city-wide impact, and preparing a detailed report covering budgetary needs, facilities, staffing, and success metrics, all while integrating community feedback and complying with regulatory guidelines.

Below are the departments represented in the Clinical Expansion working group, each contributing their specialized knowledge and expertise to the advancement of the Treatment Not Trauma initiative.
